A Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is a proactive safety process used to identify, assess, and control hazards associated with specific tasks before work begins. It is a core part of our health and safety program and helps ensure work is planned, performed, and supervised safely.
At MGI, our JHA follows a structured, step-by-step approach designed to reduce risk, prevent injuries, and protect workers, the public, and the environment.
Our Job Hazard Analysis process uses the RACE Method:
Identify potential hazards associated with each step of a task, including physical, chemical, biological, musculoskeletal, psychosocial, and safety hazards.
Evaluate how likely a hazard is to occur and how severe the outcome could be, using a risk matrix to determine overall risk levels and identify critical tasks.
Implement effective controls using the hierarchy of controls, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Reassess hazards after controls are in place to confirm risks have been reduced to acceptable levels and controls remain effective over time.
Our JHA program covers a wide range of office, field, and high-risk construction activities, including critical tasks such as equipment operation, demolition, abatement, working at heights, excavation, traffic control, hoisting and rigging, and exposure to occupational health hazards.Each task is analyzed individually to ensure site-specific hazards are identified and controlled, not overlooked.
