Making Breakthroughs at Medical Office Demolition in Etobicoke

It goes without saying that hospitals are important. While lifestyle choices such as diet and exercise can certainly play a role in human health, ultimately the impacts of nature and chance are unavoidable.

Committing to that chia-seed, flax-seed, kale-powered, 37-grain bagel is a great way to take charge of your life, don't get us wrong; the reality is, however, that you still might slip up some morning and cut your finger. Indeed, "bagel-related injuries" put more people in the hospital than you might think, and it is thanks to the professional medical community, and to hospitals, that not every accident must be a tragedy. Those folks can get you stitched up and preparing breakfast again (albeit perhaps more cautiously) before you know it.

The use of medicine is thought to date back to prehistoric times, and more recent inventions such as antibiotics, x-ray imaging, and MRIs have made many important contributions to human wellbeing.

Still today, our understanding continues to evolve. One major medical frontier is the science of aging and longevity. Since most human diseases become more common the older people get, those at the Academy for Health and Lifespan Research—a group made up of innovative researchers from Harvard, MIT and other major institutions—have proposed that “we can [develop] medicines that will treat aging at its source and thereby have a much greater impact on health and lifespan than drugs that target a single disease.” Just think how fine-tuned and finessed your bagel-preparation skills could be at age 200!

Currently, MGI Construction Corp. is contributing our part through a 150,000 sq. ft., four-storey demolition project on a William Osler Medical Office at 89 Humber College Boulevard in Etobicoke. The project involves a combination of the removal of precast and cast-in-place concrete slabs, the demolishing of a steel structure, post-demolition basement backfilling, and site grading works to prepare the area for the construction of a new parking lot. We are inspired to be working with William Osler Health Centre as a direct client on this job.
