SUMMARY

MGI Construction Corp., in partnership with Chandos Construction, performed demolition, earthworks, and heavy civil services for the complete rebuild of Toronto Public Library’s Centennial Branch at 578 Finch Avenue West. The redevelopment will more than double the library’s size from 6,869 sq.ft. to 15,000 sq.ft. and mark TPL’s first-ever net zero branch, setting a new standard for sustainable public infrastructure in the city. MGI’s scope included dismantling the existing facility, executing bulk earthworks, grading, and site servicing to prepare the property for vertical construction. These works laid the foundation for a modernized library that will feature expanded children’s, teen, and adult spaces, flexible program and meeting rooms, a family-friendly washroom, a community plaza, and a new outdoor courtyard. This transformative project ensures that the Centennial Branch will become a vibrant, accessible, and environmentally sustainable hub for learning and community gathering in North York.
